Copy for AI, last updated 3 November 2026

What the extension does

Copy for AI converts the text you select, or the page you are viewing, into Markdown or plain text and places it on your clipboard. That is its single purpose.

Data handling

• All conversion happens locally in your browser. Page content is never sent to any server.
• The extension makes no network requests while you copy. The only exception is the optional Pro licence: when you enter a licence key, and occasionally afterwards to confirm it is still valid, the key is sent to the Lemon Squeezy licence service (api.lemonsqueezy.com) and nothing else. It stores your settings (output format, templates and similar preferences) and, if you activate Pro, your licence key in your browsers extension storage, which Chrome may sync across your own devices if you have sync enabled.
• The extension does not collect analytics, does not track browsing and contains no advertising.

Permissions

• activeTab, scripting: read the current page only when you ask for a copy.
• contextMenus: the right-click menu entries.
• storage: save your settings.
• clipboardWrite: place the result on your clipboard.
• Optional access to api.lemonsqueezy.com: only if needed to check your Pro licence key.
• Optional access to all sites: asked only when you use Copy all tabs, so that every open tab can be read once.

Payments

Pro is sold by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment and your purchase details. The extension never sees your payment information.
